‘FOOTY’ CARD STATISTICS

This session explores how Year 7 students learned statistics
through creating personalised footy cards featuring a photo,
player number, motto, and survey responses that became
a class dataset. Their work sparked genuine engagement,
with students discussing maths even at recess. The approach
supported learning of concepts such as mean, median,
mode, box plots, data types, pie charts, and time series plots.
Participants will learn from our classroom experiences and
receive practical resources, including a template, rubric, and
sample questions, to use in their own teaching.
